Titanium dioxide is the most important white pigment used in the coatings industry. TiO2 is unique. It combines high refractive index with high scattering power in the visible region of the spectrum. It thereby imparts whiteness and opacity when incorporated into a coating.
This combination affords the coatings formulator a route to highly opaque and bright whites or tints at minimum film thicknesses. KRONOS offers rutile pigments in various grades, each delivering excellent performance properties for the type of paint or coating being manufactured – i.e., high chalk resistance with extreme durability for exterior paints and coatings, or low abrasion and high opacity in inks.
