KRONOS Canada, Inc., is a wholly owned subsidiary of KRONOS Worldwide, Inc. The headquarters and sales offices are located in Montreal, while the manufacturing plant is located at Varennes, Quebec.
Canadian Titanium pigments was founded in 1936 and the Varennes plant was inaugurated in September 1957 with a production volume of 13,500 mt/y via sulfate process.
The site has an area of roughly 290,000 m². The current production capacity is 17,000 mt/y via sulfate process and 85,000 mt/y via chloride process.
The Varennes plant is the only manufacturing site for TiO2 pigments in Canada and sole TiO2-producer in North America able to produce TiO2 also by means of the sulfate process. We are also sole producer of food-grade (FDA approved) TiO2-pigments in North America.
KRONOS Canada employs a total of 400 people of which 311 are covered by a labour agreement. All employees are well qualified and trained for their particular tasks based on their education and professional experience as well as our continuous training programs.
