The Nordenham production site is situated in the North of Germany at the estuary of the river Weser to the North Sea.
The plant started production in 1969 with a production volume of 36,000 mt/y.
The site has an area of 660,000 m². The current capacity is 60,000 mt/y via sulfate process.
KRONOS is operating the sulfphate-plant at the Nordenham-site in a highly integrated process. All components of the raw-material (Ilmenite-ore and sulphuric-acid) are converted into saleable products used in reliable and innovative applications in various industries.
The facility employs about 400 skilled and well-qualified chemical workers and craftsmen. Nordenham personnel ensure the high reliability of technical equipment and good performance of the chemical process.
Employees take part in on- and off-site training to improve their technical and process knowledge. Every year about five young people begin the three-and-a-half-year apprenticeship for chemical or technical education.
